The 24th Knesset elections will take place on the 10th of Nissan, 5781, the 23rd of March 2021, a few days before the Pessah (Passover) holiday, our Holiday of Freedom. On Election Day, we all mark the holiday of democracy, and our being free to participate in the development of society and the country in which we live. On this day, each and every one of us gets to decide who will represent us in the Legislature, which, in turn, will determine the character of the government which will serve us. This is our right and it is also our obligation. On Election Day, each voter casts their vote in the elections for Knesset, which, as stated in Section 4 of Basic Law: The Knesset, are “general, nation-wide, direct, equal, secret and proportional” elections.
This year, the elections are taking place in the shadow of the Covid-19 pandemic, which brings us the extra challenge of providing uncompromising protection of public health alongside ensuring the basic right of every citizen to participate in the democratic process. The Central Elections Committee is working to ensure, even in these difficult times, fair and proper running of the election campaign and process and the prevention of election fraud, while protecting the health of all voters.
The Central Elections Committee website was created to make all information about the upcoming elections accessible to all. On this site, you will find information about the Committee’s activities and decisions, about the voting process and about Knesset election regulations. The site also provides information about the steps involved in voting and requesting to run for Knesset, as well as statistical information about previous elections.
